Chinese Company is Considering Building a $150mln Plant
Y. Yelekeyev told the Chinese representatives about the Republic of Kazakhstan’s investment climate, KAZAKH INVEST’s activities, and government support measures.
Yerzhan Yelekeyev, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST," and Sultangali Kinzhakulov, Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a meeting with the leadership of the Chinese company Zhejiang Sunny Group Co., Ltd. During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of building a plant for the production of cornstarch and thiamulin, with subsequent expansion of biologically based products.
Y. Yelekeyev told the Chinese representatives about the Republic of Kazakhstan’s investment climate, KAZAKH INVEST’s activities, and government support measures. He noted that Kazakhstan has significant potential for growing agricultural products with high added value, including corn, for further processing.
Chairman of Zhejiang Sunny Group Co., Ltd. Jianhui Chen noted favorable conditions for the plant’s construction in Kazakhstan, namely the strategic location, availability of land for growing corn, and proximity to local suppliers. According to him, the company is ready to invest $150 million in implementing the project and create 500 permanent jobs.
The products will be exported to European Union countries and Southeast Asia for use in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and veterinary industries. The project also provides for the processing of industrial waste, the treatment of industrial wastewater, and the use of installations to minimize emissions into the atmosphere from the combustion of natural gas.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen their investment and economic partnership and cooperate in implementing this project.
